Here are the articles I reprinted this week:
Happy Friday everyone. This week I posted a news story on Comic Frontline about The Women of Dynamite and how the Li'l Depressed Boy is returning! Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Todd McFarlane Fan's Ultimate Art Book "Apparently a long time in the works, the visual biography of president of Image Comics and Todd McFarlane Productions, Todd McFarlane will be coming in limited supplies to stores near you on Wednesday, November 21st, 2012. The Art of Todd McFarlane: The Devil’s in the Details will be McFarlane’s first and only art book." You Missed that Issue?! Pete the P.O.'d Postal Worker #1 "In another segment of "You Missed That Issue," we take a look at a classic comic that doesn't come from a big name publisher like Marvel or DC and was overlooked despite its 'charm.' Beware of spoilers!" Batman and Robin #15 Review "Grant Morrison has been both a friend and a mortal enemy to fans of the Batman. One thing is the same, however: Batman and Robin is one of the greatest ongoing series at the moment. Possibly the best. With an in-depth story and stunning art, this issue fails to disappoint. The "Batman and Robin Must Die" story arc comes to a conclusion in this bizarre story, directly linking it with the "Return of Bruce Wayne." Professor Pyg and Dr. Hurt are together on a road full of rampage and it's up to the Batman to stop them... with a little help from the Joker and a kidnapped Damian Wayne."

Happy Saturday everybody. This week I reviewed the webcomic turned graphic novel Rapture Burgers Volume 1. Check it out - they even quoted me on the back of their book! Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Image Comics Announces Repulse "After showing his artistic skills in his debut title Spawn, Szymon Kudranski has unveiled his latest project called Repulse, a dark science-fiction thriller." Deadpool Kills Deadpool "Once upon a time, Deadpool killed the Marvel universe. And no, that’s not a fairy tale. Deadpool really killed the entire Marvel Universe in the mini-series Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe. But, being everyone’s favorite Merc with a Mouth and a less-than-sane brain, Deadpool didn’t stop there. Next, Deadpool killed the classic characters we all know and were bored with in English class, including Moby Dick and Mowgli, in the follow-up mini-series Deadpool Killustrated. Now, to finally end the “Deadpool Killology,” we will be getting Deadpool Kills Deadpool this July." Herculian #1 Review "Take a trip back to the golden-age with this reprint of Erik Larsen’s Popgun strip’s and his 24-hour comic “Guy Talk.” There are plenty of problems that can be scrutinized with this comic due mostly to its age, but it is still a fun read – the only question is whether or not it is worth the five dollar price tag and if you can withstand the other half of the comic that is offensive. I will be mentioning how the art works with the story but I will refrain from rating it for one simple reason – all art was similar to this comic back in the Golden Age, so if you’re familiar with the style and either like it or don’t care you should be fine." Dracula: The Company of Monsters #9 Review "Luckily, after reading a terrible seventh issue and a decent eighth issue Dracula: The Company of Monsters #9 hits many soft spots but still has quite a few rough patches that make me question why the series has been so acclaimed since the first issue. The battle between Conrad and Dracula finally begins here, with Evan playing the double-crosser of both Dracula and Conrad seeking help from the vampire-hunter Marta and her gang." Who's Who Featuring Arm-Fall-Off-Boy "In this new feature, Who’s Who, I'm going to introduce you to comic book characters you’ve never heard of. This week we have some of the weirdest characters and teams you’ve never heard of from comics you have heard of, including Arm-Fall-Off-Boy, Death Throws, Dr. Robert Doom, Elf With a Gun and Number One Fan!" MacGyver: Fugitive Gauntlet #1 Review "When Image Comics say this is a fast-paced adventure story they're right. And it's a fairly enjoyable one too, despite the artistic flaws and some storyline elements."
Happy Friday everyone. This week I wrote a review of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie on Comic Frontline. Despite being produced by Michael Bay and starring Megan Fox, it wasn't completely awful! I also posted a news story about the 12 upcoming creator-owned series from Dark Horse Comics. Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Evil Ernie #3 Review: Chaos Both Good and Bad "Every issue, Evil Ernie seems to introduce a new and entertaining concept. First it was an origin story, then the development of some cool powers. Now with issue three we get not only more cool powers but an archangel who presents an interesting new concept. Unfortunately this is combined with the persistent array of overwhelming artwork and slow pace." MacGyver Maneuvers His Way into Comics "MacGyver was a master adventurer who could survive anything with anything. see that keyboard in front of you? He could turn it into a lifesaving shield or a high-tech weapon with a few quick maneuvers. Finally, Image Comics are publishing their first new MacGyver comic book titled MacGyver: Fugitive Gauntlet. The first time we've seen MacGyver since the television series ended back in 1992." Vescell #1 Review "Vescell has big ideas but a mediocre execution. There are multiple stories in this issue with each contributing very little to the overall plot development. The art also fails to have any spark and looks amateur at times. With the number of creative ideas coming from the writer, Enrique Carrion, and fun but flawed characters, the issue is average and needs more work to reach its full potential."
Hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of an update last week but I was away on a vacation at Universal. I posted some pictures from my trip with some comments. Check out Marvel Super Hero Island. These past two weeks I posted a preview and my first impressions for Usagi Yojimbo: Senso #1 on Entertainment Fuse. I also reviewed for the first time an app, the addictive Marvel Puzzle Quest, on Comic Frontline! Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Moriarty: The Lazarus Tree #6 Review "Moriarty #6 is not only the worst issue so far in the “Lazarus Tree” story arc, but the weakest issue so far in the entire series. The story and characters are very involved and it is easy to get confused. Most of the information we are given is useless and just highlights writer Daniel Corey’s superior intellect. If only he could take that intellect and form an entertaining story, but Moriarty continues to under-whelm." 44Flood Joins with IDW Publishing "44FLOOD is an artist collective which hasn’t been around for very long but has already established a reputation for producing wonderful art books. Now, the collective has joined with IDW Publishing. The publisher will be printing 44FLOOD’s future projects."
