I changed my comic book cover related features into slideshows so now there won't be lots of unnecessary scrolling! But did anyone like the older style, and should I remove the little preview at the top of both features which says the title or not? Let me know in the comments! Here are the articles I reprinted (and retooled) this week: "This is a list of the best covers of 2010, limited to one issue per series so that books like Batgirl or Fables couldn't hog up the entire list. You'll find a mixture of Marvel, DC, Vertigo and Top Cow with books that included: New Mutants, Gotham City Sirens, Fables, Batgirl, Batman and Robin, Artifacts, Sweet Tooth, Batman: Streets of Gotham and we'll leave you a few for a surprise." "Continuing last year's tradition of the Best Comic Book Covers of 2010, this year I will be picking the Best Comic Book Covers of 2011. Again, this list is limited by one issue per series and is for comics that came out in 2011, including comics labeled 2012 that came out on comic book stands up to December 31st. It doesn't matter how good an issue is on this list on the inside, the outside is all that counts on this list." "Jack Kirby: the "King of Comics." Writer, artist and editor in all three ages of comics until his death in 1994, Kirby not only designed but created some of the most prolific characters of DC and Marvel including Galactus, the Fantastic Four, Etrigan the Demon and New Gods. Now, Dynamic Entertainment will bring all of Kirby's characters together in a new limited series – Kirby: Genesis." "DC Comics announced with mixed blessings that there would be seven comic book prequels to the Watchmen series (the highest selling graphic novel ever). Mixed blessings, because, to many a fan’s dismay, neither of the Watchmen’soriginal creators will be working on the prequels." "After only one issue of partial success, Shinku #2 is poorly constructed with only a few redeeming qualities. I was entertained somewhat through the issue just enough to enjoy it."

I've created a Facebook page for my work (because I "needed" another social media site to repost my work on). The link to the page has been added to my site. Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Deathstroke #15 Review"Finally, Rob Liefeld’s… let’s just say, less than desirable run on Deathstroke, has ended. Now another writer, Justin Jordan, has taken over. I was hoping, even with the announcement of Deathstroke’s cancellation via issue 19, that Jordan’s run would end Slade with an epic adventure. But instead, cracks building up since the beginning of the series are starting to show and all of Jordan’s material and the slew of new pencilers and inkers that came with him are mediocre at best with only the fewest of exceptions." Chris Zylka in New Spider-Man Reboot"Filming has begun on the new Spider-man movie (which has yet to be named), and with it another actor playing in the movie has been announced. An almost unknown actor, Chris Zylka was a character on Hannah Montana and 10 Things I Hate About You. He was previously rumored to be in Spider-man on November 23rd of this year, and now the rumor has been confirmed." You Missed that Issue?! - Pieces for Mom: A Tale of the Undead"In this feature we take a look at a comic book that fell on the wayside despite being a gem – a very bloody gem too. Pieces for Mom was a one-shot that came out in 2007 and was written by one of the masters of comic book horror, Steve Niles, writer of such fan-favorites as 30 Days of Night and Simon Dark."
Time for another update! Here are the articles I reprinted this week: IDW to Publish Popeye"The sailor with a spinach fetish and burly arms is back! Thanks to IDW Publishing, Popeye will be returning in his own comic series. The series will be written by Roger Langridge." Shinku #1 Review"Here’s a surprise: ANOTHER vampire title from Image. Despite the massive amounts of vampire related stories the media’s been getting ever since Twilight hit book stores, Shinku is a fun romp that I can’t help but think of in comparison to Undying Love, another comic book about vampires that takes place in Hong Kong. Shinku also has an exotic setting that is somewhat explored in this issue, and the art has a quality to it that makes it stand out on the shelf. Unfortunately there is little else that Shinku offers, but another surprise (without the sarcasm) is that this story is still fun to read." Undying Love #2 Review"This issue of Undying Love may not have the artistic prowess of the previous issue, but there is more meaningful action, more character development and more disappointment. John Sargent is in love with the vampire Mei and sets out to kill her maker Sang-Ji to turn Mei back into a human. He sets out first in this issue for Club G-Boss, a vampire hangout and gets bitten by one of the vampires. Now he may become a creature of the night himself."
Happy Fourth of July weekend everyone! Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Swamp Thing #18 Review"Since Swamp Thing #10 I haven't bothered to review an issue of Swamp Thing, but that doesn't mean I haven't been reading it. The last several issues of this series have been a part of the highly-anticipated (though aren't they all?) crossover event between Animal Man and Swamp Thing known as "Rotworld." The crossover, which started out alright but inevitably flawed, became a laborious crossover to read through that cost much more money than it was worth." Undying Love #1 Review"Undying Love (if you couldn't tell from the horribly overused pun in the title) is another vampire story. After dozens of vampire stories coming out in not only comics but mainstream movies, many people are tired of seeing blood-suckers everywhere they turn. But Undying Love manages to bring some unique storytelling tactics that make the vampire genre seem fresh yet still has a few kinks that need to be worked out."
