A short update this week but please check out some of my current stuff. Read my picks for the Worst Comic Book Covers of 2013 on Entertainment Fuse and my recent news story about Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips deal with Image Comics on Comic Frontline. Or for a blast from the past see the articles I reprinted this week below: Britney Spears in Fame "'Fame,' a companion series to Bluewater Productions 'Female Force' and 'Political Power,' portrays the memorable moments in the lives of popular stars. The series has previously featured Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and the hit TV-show "Glee." Now Bluewater will be coming out with another issue of Fame entitled "Fame: Britney Spears." Yes, the pop-idol Britney Spears will be in her own comic with some of her greatest and worst moments revealed in 32 pages worth of panels." Fatale #2 Review "I am still enraptured in the detective story of Fatale. Despite an artistic downgrade, confusing moments, and a lack in the stories balance, Fatale is a clichéd classic detective story saved by brilliant narration and characterization that keeps it feeling fresh."

Last week some people may have noticed I changed the names of series to include what volume they are or if they're part of the New 52. Hopefully this will make it less confusing when I review series like Batgirl Volume 3 vs. the Batgirl series from the New 52... if I ever review it. Please let me know if there are any other changes or additions you'd like to see on the site! Thanks for your continued support and I hope you enjoy the articles I post! Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Amigo Comics Coming in October 2013"Amigo Comics is an independent publisher that publishes creator-owned comic books – usually of the horror, fantasy and science-fiction variety. This October, Amigo will be adding three issues to their series Rogues! and Arcane Secrets and their newest title, Gargantuan, will begin." Batman: The Dark Knight #2 Review"After the less than impressive first issue, Batman: The Dark Knight has an entertaining and fascinating story despite some issues with plot points, some out of character behavior and some lackluster exchanges of dialogue. Does all of this Stop this issue from being good? No, but it keeps it from being as great as it should be." The Li'l Depressed Boy #4 Review "While the previous issues of The Li’l Depressed Boy had wit and charm, this issue brings not only that but an emotional ending that makes me want to cry for LDB and thank Sina Grace for finally giving his true talent over to this issue art wise." Damaged #1 Review "A big muscled anti-hero abounds in this issue and he’s packing some serious heat. Henry, this comic’s version of the Terminator, is by far the most entertaining part of the issue, giving us some of the greatest (and not to mention only) action-packed scenes."
To celebrate the New Year, please check out Entertainment Fuse's picks for Best Comic Book Fights of 2013. I hope everyone is having a very happy New Year so far! Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Spider-Girl #1 Review"When a cover like this one boasts “the only things standing between you and the most synapse-shattering super hero debut of the decade are your hands and this cover” it is a little too enthusiastic, but partially true which is surprising considering there are many things that could turn a reader off right away. Like the fact that May “Mayday” Parker has been abandoned for the already frequently appearing Anya Corazon." Batman: The Dark Knight #1 Review"If you're looking for nothing new, Batman: The Dark Knight will heavily supply you with overused ideas that everyone has seen before in a Batman comic. This issue starts the series off to an okay note, but is easily overshadowed by the awesomeness that is Batman #1. The only thing this issue does manage to do better at times is the great artwork from David Finch, who manages to draw beautiful women and Arkham's deadly inmates well." Female Writers Unite for Legends of Red Sonja"Recently Red Sonja was rebooted by Gail Simone (Birds of Prey, Suicide Squad, Batgirl). Dynamite Comics has announced they will be following up on the ongoing series with a prestige mini-series, Legends of Red Sonja, which will feature an onslaught of all female writers. Yes, female writers in comics (besides Gail Simone) do exist!"
I hope you enjoy my latest update! I recently interviewed Dan Jolley, so please check that out as well. Happy New Year everyone! Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Epoch #1 Review"Epoch is executed in a fairly entertaining way, but the story has a lot of moments where it regurgitates numerous ideas that have been explored countless times before and were handled better in those comics than they were here. Even with all these clichéd ideas, Epoch does manage to make most of them work marginally well. The art also has mixed results." The Li'l Depressed Boy #3 Review"After the wonderfully unique and humorous Li’l Depressed Boy #2 we find this issue of LDB has a bit of a sour note – but still manages to strike a fairly nice note with me all the same. "
Happy New Year everyone! I've added more "COMING SOON" entries on the Reviews page that aren't in the slideshow (because then it would take an hour to load). Please check out what is to come. I also added my Facebook page to the list on my website since I never did end up deleting it. I also added several social media icons to the top right hand corner of the page so you don't have to click on the tab to go there. I may not keep both since it seems redundant. I like how they look in the corner... but it isn't very visible. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments below. Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Fatale #1 Review"A thrilling crime-noir with more than a dash of horror, Fatale does nothing revolutionary… except that it may prove to be one of the best new titles of 2012. The narration feels like it has come out of a crime novel and the multiple genres combine into a wonderfully grotesque drama filled with crime, the regression and renewal of passion, and some decapitated bodies." A New Spider's in Town "Anya Corazon (also known as Araña) is about to become the new Spider-girl. This has been a long anticipated action, thought of by fans who first saw Anya in Amazing Fantasy #1 back in 2004. Finally, Anya will be Spider-girl in her second ongoing series, debuting next Wednesday."
