This week on Comic Frontline I wrote about the upcoming Reanimator mini-series.
Here are the articles I reprinted this week:
Happy Friday everyone! It's almost the end of the month which means my first monthly edition of Best/Worst Comic Book Covers will be on Entertainment Fuse soon. This week on Comic Frontline I wrote about the upcoming Reanimator mini-series. Here are the articles I reprinted this week: AMC's Comic Book Men Crytpozoic Man Comic Announced"Comic Book Men, is a reality TV show about a small comic book store in Red Bank, NJ, owned by Kevin Smith. In one episode the staff of Kevin Smith's 'Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash' promoted an idea for a horror comic book to Dynamite Entertainment. The publisher accepted the idea and now Cryptozoic Man is coming to comic book stores." Corrective Measures Volume 1"It’s another addition of “You Missed that Issue?!” where I talk about a comic you’ve probably never heard of and need to read! Corrective Measures Volume 1 was published by Arcana Comics back in 2008. The first volume collects the first six issues of Corrective Measures and with each issue (dubbed “chapter”) comes more thrills, mystery and fascinating characters. I was given the chance to enjoy the story yet again when I participated in Comic Bin’s Preview Weekend. You can find the full volume at their site here (for the monthly price of $8.99 for hundreds of other comics plus this gem). But, without further ado and advertisement, onto the madness of Corrective Measures!"

Happy Friday everybody! I posted my annual list of the Worst Comic Book Covers of 2014 on Entertainment Fuse. I was thinking about making this a monthly feature to showcase the best and worst covers of the month. If you enjoy the yearly list (or don't) let me know what you think! Also, please recommend a cover to include for best or worst. The only criteria are that it must be a single issue and it should have a January date on it. I will mention the names of those who recommend a cover if I choose it unless you tell me not to include your name. Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Batman #704 Review"This issue turned out to be more impressive than I thought: an interesting story with lots of characters that are written in the perfect way, and even the art had its moment! There are still plenty of things that keep this issue from being perfect, specifically one: Catgirl." Image Comics Gets a Reality Check"The only reason this new comic book mini-series Reality Check isn’t the number one comic book I’m looking forward to this year is because I had a similar idea for a comic book myself… which was partly inspired by an episode of TMNT that was dedicated to and featured Jack Kirby. But while this comic book doesn’t have Jack Kirby, it does have Willard Penn, a comic book writer who has a surprise hit. Yes, the protagonist of this comic book is a guy who is a comic book writer… who comes face-to-face with his own creation, the superhero Dark Hour." Evil Ernie #6 Review"Finally, Ernie’s origin is over, and I’m praying after this issue I won’t go to hell for reading this travesty. After starting out strong and sometimes wavering past decent, this story ended with an almost indescribably bad bang. "
The New Year is over two weeks underway - how's it been for you so far? This week the comic book section of Entertainment Fuse listed the Most Anticipated Comic Books of 2015 (this included series, TV shows and movies). I also posted my Best Comic Book Covers of 2014. Stay tuned for some of the worst! On Comic Frontline I posted my review for Batman #34 in which Deadpool writer Gerry Duggan terrifies readers! Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Learn Real-Life Survival Tips from a Zombie Comics"The CDC (Center for Disease Control) recently released an online graphic novel following the success of their blog post in May which featured zombies. Their new zombie graphic novel, appropriately called Preparedness 101: Zombie Pandemic, is being used to teach people how to survive in the real-world during such real-life terrors as floods and hurricanes with some help from the undead." First Look: Veil #1"Eisner winner Greg Rucka (Lazarus, 52) has created a new horror mini-series for Dark Horse Comics: Veil. In an abandoned subway station a woman wakes up covered in rats (and nothing else) with no memory of how she got there. Then when some guys jump her they meet their own end instead. The artwork for this title is done by Cthulhu artist Toni Fejzula. See a preview for Veil #1 and read my first impressions below." Chapel #1 Review"This has been a pretty good year for robots in comics. Transfusion brought together robots and vampires. Non-Humans brought up robots civil rights. But while Chapel #1 came out before Non-Humans and also brought up robots rights, that is not its main focus. No. The main focus of Chapel is the ultimate punishment the protagonist goes through which has me clamoring for more… despite some flaws. Like a recycled plot."
Happy New Year everyone! This week I uploaded the comic book section of Entertainment Fuse's 2014 Comic Book Awards. You can view part 1 and part 2. I also posted about Batgirl #37, an issue panned for transphobic content. Coming soon is Entertainment Fuse's Most Anticipated Comic Book's of 2015 and a review of Batman #34. Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Prototype Midquel Comic Book"Comic book and video game publisher Radical Entertainment will be teaming up with Dark Horse Comics to create a three-story comic book series of the Prototype mythos occurring between Prototype and Prototype 2 (one of the most anticipated open-world/action games this year slated for an April 2012 release)." Danger Club #3 Review"The Danger Club is reduced to a bunch of sidekicks, both good and evil, after all of their mentors went off to space and never returned. Now, the team tries to track down the remaining villains to help them stop a genocidal threat." Princeless Volume 1 #1"Once upon a time, in a castle full of plot-holes there lived the princess Adrienne... who thought fairytales were hogwash and could take care of herself. Who needs a prince? Adrienne is happily princeless." Mysterious Ways #2 Review"Mysterious Ways takes a religious turn this issue that could upset many Christians – especially when it's worked in with strippers and murderers. The vulgar language and actions of our 'hero' make him unlikable. The plot has many facepalming moments that make you almost laugh out loud at how improbable they are. The art continues to fail to impress and remains reminiscent of Image Comics of the 90s with rarely any good moments but a consistent gritty New York nature that fits the tone of the story."
