Here are the articles I reprinted this week:
Happy Friday everyone! No new articles this week but I have a bunch in the works. Stay tuned for a new "Kickstart the Week", a couple of features related to Women's History Month and the "Best/Worst Comic Book Covers of March 2015". Plus even more on the way! Here are the articles I reprinted this week: "Princeless is a comic meant to show how powerful women in comics can be. This issue highlights the more… unsavory aspects most comic book women unfortunately (or fortunately for some) share. This issue detracts from the main plot to share this message with it’s readers and it succeeds enough to make me even think about the experiences I’ve had in my own life." "Kelly Sue DeConnick, writer of the popular Captain Marvel series, and Emma Ríos, who penciled The Amazing Spider-Man, will be releasing their first creator-owned comic book series this October. Get ready to meet Ginny, Death’s daughter who journeys throughout the West. She’s pretty deadly." "Dynamite Entertainment will be releasing their first female-centric crossover event which is currently under the working title The Women of Dynamite. Who better to write the series than Gail Simone, who has written several series with empowering female characters like Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, Batgirl and Red Sonja. The crossover will include Dynamite favorites like Vampirella, Red Sonja, Dejah Thoris and the many other female characters owned by Dynamite Entertainment. " "Ever since this now renowned horror series hit the stands in 2007, the creators said it would become a movie. It’s 2011. Still no movie. With all the remakes now in the world of horror, people are begging to see some originality, and transferring this series from comics to a feature length film would be the perfect Halloween treat."

Happy Friday everyone! The next Kickstart the Week is on Comic Frontline. This week it's CHUNKS #1-#3. This week I also interviewed the character designer for MSCSI, Jennifer Vaiano Karp. Here are the articles I reprinted this week: Batman Beyond #1 Review"After a pretty successful mini-series that had the fans of the futuristic Neo-Gotham asking for more, the first issue of the new on-going series Batman Beyond is a bit of a disappointment. If you're reading some of DC's other Batman titles you may want to stick with those, though the series could show signs of improvement; if they fire the artist and start focusing more on Batman." Original Villain for Dark Knight Rises Revealed"Is it really news that the king of conundrums, the "riddle me this, riddle me that," Riddler was Warner Brothers' original choice for a villain in The Dark Knight Rises before he chose Bane? No – but maybe the actor who was supposed to play him is (and I'm not talking about Johnny Depp). " Grant Morrison DJ's"Grant Morrison, renowned writer of Batman and Robin, All-Star Superman and several other revolutionary titles, has explored another creative facet of himself in the world of music as a guest DJ on the public radio KCRW (89.9 FM and KCRW.com), whose home base is in LA."
This week I tweaked my site a bit. The format of my News page and my Features page has changed so the images are less cramped... and much easier to work with in the Blog Editor! New articles this week include a post about Dynamite Entertainment's new Women of Dynamite statues on Comic Frontline. I also had a very in-depth interview with Dr. Will Brooker about his comic My So-Called Secret Identity and talked about Batgirl's new direction. Next week expect another in-depth interview and another Kickstart the Week! If you have a Kickstarter and are interested in having it showcased and being interviewed about it, please contact me. X #2 Review"X is a classic Dark Horse antihero who before this issue I’ve only heard of, never read about. Surprisingly, despite this being a re-launch of the classic title and this being the second issue, this was an entertaining introduction to not just X but a few other characters and a simple story." Journey with Lewis and Clark in Manifest Destiny"Experience Lewis & Clark journeying where no man has ever set foot before: The United States of America. Writer Chris Dingess (Being Human) and artist Matthew Roberts (Battle Pope) will be taking you back to 1804 this November in their new Image Comics Skybound imprint series Manifest Destiny." Trouble Point #0 Review"Trouble Point #0 is divided into four chapters, and the first chapter is so morally apprehensible and unintentionally offensive that it makes me adamant about not picking this book up. If the idea of seeing a stillborn baby with a placenta noose around it’s neck does not disgust you, nor it’s resuscitation process, then maybe you could get through the rest of the chapters which range from passable to poor."
Happy Friday everyone! This week I posted my picks for Best/Worst Comic Book Covers of February 2015. I am still debating about keeping up with this monthly feature. It is fun to pick these covers but should I include a worst list? Is anyone interested in contributing picks? Is adding honorable mentions too much? Let me know in the comment below. I also posted an advanced review for Nailbiter/Hack/Slash #1 for Comic Frontline. This one-shot came out this past Wednesday. Did you pick it up? What did you think? Was there enough nail biting, hacking and slashing for you? Here is the article I reprinted this week: Reality Check #2 Review: Major "Babage""If you haven’t read Reality Check #1 (or my review of it) please check that out before you read this since it will contain spoilers for the end of that issue. I usually try to avoid spoilers, but in this case it was inevitable."
