I’ve put up several of my old reviews and a news story into my archive. Please check out the links below and feel free to either message me on Tumblr or use the “Contact Form” on the “Home” page for feedback on the site - what you liked, what you didn’t like, and what you’d like to see. Hopefully I will have more features up including a “Score” page and will continue slowly reprinting my old reviews. Check out the ones I’ve updated so far below! And happy 2013 everybody! :) “Catwoman is back and sexier than ever. Unfortunately, she couldn’t bring a thrilling storyline or personal narrative along with her for this somewhat bland romp through Gotham City that ends with something that would fit nicely on Skinemax. The art and colors are some of the more enjoyable aspects of this issue.” Swamp Thing #1 Review “The unfortunate thing about Swamp Thing #1 is that it has automatically been compared to the wonderful Swamp Thing run written by Alan Moore. This is a shame since, while in comparison to the original series this issue may fail to match the story, characters or even artwork of the original, this issue has elements from the original that are fun and incorporated well and is a good, enjoyable entry in the Swamp Thing saga.” Transfusion #1 Review “You can tell Transfusion #1 is a unique title by the oddly built robot on the cover, and the words underneath Transfusion, which may have people rolling their eyes: “Vampires versus Robots.” Yes, this title has vampires and robots that both crave blood. And if I had two words to describe horror maven Steve Nile’s Transfusion, wonderfully weird comes to mind. And that’s not just from the bizarre post-apocalyptic type of world Niles creates, but the disturbing tone set by Menton Matthew’s artwork.” Deathstroke #0 Review “Reviews for comics like Deathstroke #0 are often the hardest to write – well, the hardest to make enjoyable. Because that is exactly what Deathstroke #0 is not. It is a long and boring story that could have had many alternatives and does have some heart put into it. Unfortunately, not enough to make me like it. Sorry Robert Liefeld – I still think you’re the misfortunate scapegoat of the 90s, and I see you have passion, but your final run on this book is not working for me.” Non-Humans #1 Review “First impressions have never hurt my comic book experience before, but it came close with this issue. Here’s the title I have been anticipating the most this October, which is saying a lot since there are titles like Bedlam and Evil Ernie haunting the shelves and peaking my interest. I expected a “guilty pleasure series:” a series I wouldn’t have to think about. I could just watch killer dolls massacre people and maybe suffer through a lot of unnecessary cussing.” The Almighties #1 Review “The Almighties picked the perfect time to come out: right after the blockbuster-hit The Avengers. A parody of them, The Almighties has some unique characters but has so much vulgar humor it’s hard not to be offended unless it’s your type of humor. If it is, you could have a comedic and clever (if you look hard enough) hit. Or you could react the way I did at first: offended.”
