Dark Shadows/Vampirella Crossover Announced

Dynamite Entertainment will be publishing Dark Shadows/Vampirella #1 in August, a crossover between the two well-known vampire series. This is hardly surprising considering Dynamite's recent launch of a Dark Shadows title that coincided closely with the movie version with Johnny Depp playing the vampire Vampirella will be teaming-up with in this crossover from Dark Shadows: Barnabas Collins.
Dark Shadows/Vampirella #1 will be written by Marc Andreyko (Manhunter) with art by Patrick Berkenkotter (Vampirella, Avengers/Invaders). Also, Fabiano Neves (Red Sonja), will be working on the title, at least drawing the cover of the first issue but he may do more.

Dynamite entertainment has released an official plot summary from the comic. They've said:
"In Dark Shadows/Vampirella #1, when the disappearance of a family friend brings Barnabas Collins to New York, he is ill-prepared for the seedy underworld of clubs that awaits him! And Vampirella's quest to find the "Big Apple Butcher" sends her on a collision course with the vampire of Collinsport! Will Vampirella and Barnabas uncover the shocking identity of this madman before they kill each another?"
The editor of Dynamite Entertainment, Joe Rybandt, commented on Dark Shadows TV show and movie star vampire Barnabas Collins and Vampirella, saying:
"Cross-overs get a bad rap when they're not done right, or they feel forced. But this one felt like a natural the moment we had the idea. The setting, the characters, the bad guys...the whole thing has come together so naturally, and Marc and Patrick are the perfect pair to make it happen".
The series is not coming out until August, but fans and prospective buyers get a five-paged preview (seen below) of the finished pencils to hold them over for now. I'm hoping they keep the black-and-white look since it helps keep the comic feeling like an old black-and-white horror film, but colors could be added. Until the title's release, fans will have to get their fangs from other vampiric titles.
